From West Point grads to drill sergeants, from Abu Ghraib interrogators to low ranking reservist-mechanics; soldiers in the US Army today reveal their deepest moral concerns about what they are asked to do in war.

Their message: every soldier wrestles with his conscience over killing. Although most decide to kill, some refuse. Soldiers of Conscience reveals that far more soldiers refuse to kill than we might expect.

Showing November 2: Malcolm X: His Own Story as it Really Happened (1972)

One of the best films on Malcolm X, structured by the autobiography he wrote with Alex Haley. This documentary is made up almost entirely of Malcolm X's own words: speeches and interviews captured and edited to show the development of his work and thought. (And no Denzel!)

Tacoma Anarchist Bookfair Nov 3-4

The bookfair is taking place the weekend of November 3-4 at Pitchpipe Infoshop
617 S 17th St (at G St) Tacoma, WA 98405

We have around 10 tables of different distros/booksellers. Workshops will run
throughout the weekend.

Some (but not all) workshops are:
-anti-eurocentrism
-consent
-diy reusable menstrual pad making
-neighboorhood organizing
-street medic
-port militarization resistance

Saturday night there will be a show following the bookfair. Touring band The
Wayward and Olympia artists Onyx and The Pasties are playing.

Sunday evening after the bookfair we'll play anarchist games!

Food Not Bombs will be cooking throughout the weekend.

We'd love to see people from all around the country, in particular the
Northwest (and if possible, people from around the world). So be prepared for
delicious free, vegan food, and some good anarchy. Get more information at

Carlos Andrés Gómez, award-winning author and poet, to perform Nov. 7
Carlos Andrés Gómez, an internationally renowned author, poet, and playwright, will perform poetry from his latest books, Without Shame, Finding the Music and Shades of Silence, on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at UW Tacoma.

The dance troupes Reality Check and Zero Gravity from Tacoma's D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts will open the evening's events. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m., and performances begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Longshoremen's Hall at 1710 Market Street.
