There will be a Northwest Industrial Workers of the WorldmMeet-up on May 25th in Olympia, Washington at Traditions Cafe off of 5th St. It will begin at 1:00 PM and go on until 5:00 PM. On Friday, May 30th, at 7:00 PM there will be a benefit show at the Pitch Pipe Infoshop for the May Day 6, a group of innocent individuals arbitrarily targeted by the Olympia Police Department on May 1st. All money will got towards their legal defense. $5 suggested donation. Please feel free to give more.

In 1971 Vets from the Vietnam War, organized by Vietnam Veterans Against the War, came together to provide testimony about the horrific events that occurred during the War. Many spoke about the killing innocent civilians, rape, and torture that they had witnessed and taken part in.

Last month Iraq Veterans Against the War (www.ivaw.org) held a similar event in Washington D.C.

People’s University reconvenes for classes.
Education of, by and for the community.

Workshops include:

* Student activism in India – Local activist, pacifist and former UN
peacekeeper Dr. Muhammad Ayub will give a talk about his experience as a
student activist and organizer in India.
* GI Resistance - The history of the role soldiers played in ending the
Vietnam war and what it means for us today.
* Sanctuary City – the project to make Olympia a sanctuary city for both
GI war resisters and undocumented workers.

A hands-on workshop to learn all the basics to make your own high quality fuel for about $1 per gallon. In this workshop you will do titrations, make small batches of biodiesel with different oils, and learn the tricks to make quality biodiesel every time. We will also operate a small-scale "Appleseed" reactor during class. This system will be compared with the automated BioPro system which the instructor uses to facilitate fuel-making for a Bring-Your-Own-Oil type coop.

We will be gathering at Paddy Coyne’s for drinks/food (no-host) and a chance to talk informally about biodiesel issues, network with other “enthusiasts”, and potentially even form some small homebrewing co-ops. Veterans and newbies are encouraged to join in the fun! If you just want to learn more about biodiesel, this is a good place to find some "people in the know" who can answer your questions. (Paddy Coyne’s is family friendly, so the under-aged are welcome.) No charge to attend, but you're responsible for purchasing any food/drinks you wish to have! Starts about 4pm.
