MLK/Historic K Street Walking Tour

Historic Tacoma and the Tacoma Historical Society are collaborating to give a free guided walking tour of MLK and K Streets. Guides will discuss the past, present, and future of the district, concentrating on the historic neighborhood identity and community preservation initiatives. Highlights of the tour will include the Historic K Street Business District, Johnson Candy Company, historic churches and meeting halls, and Tacoma Medical Center.

Celebrate with the Tacoma Food Co-op on July 19

Do you have a hunger for fresh, local, affordable food? Come celebrate the
evolution of the Tacoma Food Co-op from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at
People's Park, South 9th & Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Efforts for creating a food cooperative in Tacoma began in the fall of 2006
with a meeting of just 12 people. There is now a mailing list of more than
600 people, and, the big news: as of June 26, the Tacoma Food Co-op is
officially incorporated.

July 26th-27th: Spokescouncil for A Grey Cluster (Oly)

This will be a tactical discussion centering around the call-out for a cluster of Northwest affinity groups to blockade Sector 6 in St. Paul (visit the map link below for the sector map). Please come with proposals and have affinity groups formed beforehand, so that we can better estimate our numbers and capabilities.

Some of the hosts of the spokescouncil also hope to discuss the cluster’s possible involvement in the disruption of the DNC, so if you’re going to Denver, bring some proposals for those actions as well.
