Monday: Tacoma Cops Steal Joe LaSac

Tacoma cops arrested Joe LaSac and his camera just after midnight, August 5th 2008 with a charge of criminal trespassing. Jail support bailed Joe out of jail just before 5am Tuesday morning. Joe was arrested while retreating form a parking lot onto the sidewalk at the Port of Tacoma where Tacoma police were threatening protesters with laser pointer equipped tasers.

His arraignment is this Friday at 1:30 pm.

I don't agree with any of your quotes. If two states tell their subjects what John Stuart Mill said, they would both go to war for the exact same argument. And that's what strikes me about all the quotes you chose: that anyone's enemies could say the exact same thing to 'their people', and would they fall for it? None of those quote tell us anything about justice, which is what we should be concerned about.

You said "People die in war unfortunately, but we must accept this and let our military do its job."

As people working together toward social justice, we should not simply stand back and let militaries run the world. This is how military juntas form. Sadly, that ideology runs deep in our own society, where once a corrupt and undemocratic institution such as the US Federal Government decides to start a war, we are encouraged to forget about its reasons and let that parasitic thing put more and more young people into the battlefields. Especially since the Iraq War was unjustified in the first place, it defeats the whole purpose of continuing to fight it.
