A paralyzed refugee claimant named Laibar Singh was denied refugee status by the Canadian government. He is supposed to be sent back to India, where it is believed he will be persecuted by Punjab separatists. He sought sanctuary in an Abbotsford Sikh temple. 1000 people protested at the airport, blocking traffic and causing delays. Surrounding the taxi that Singh was inside, the deportation office decided to delay his deportation for the time being.
