Screen capture from Tacoma Mall Shut Down video

Tacoma anti-war activists shut down the military recruiting center at the Tacoma Mall for the day, March 15th 2008. This protest was for the 5th Year Anniversary of the invasion of Iraq in 2003, which is on March 19th. March 19th will be a "day of mass-resistance" in the major US cities.

Tanks in Tacoma

Incidentally, while filming at the Port of Tacoma for the video project on union busting, I noticed several dozen large tanks beyond the shipping terminals, bound for departure.

It caught me off-guard when I noticed tanks at the port, since I was only interested in filming smoke stacks and gas formations for the union-busting video. Yet it is known that the military keeps their presence hidden from the public eye by shipping destructive materials as clandestinely as possible. The less visible, the less public outrage.

Canada Will Support Iraq War resisters!

Canadian Flag

On December 6, the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration of the House of Commons in Ottawa, after hearing the testimony of former U.S. Army sergeant Phillip McDowell, along with representatives of the Mennonites and Quakers, the Citizenship and Immigration Committee voted 7 to 4 to recommend that the Canadian government immediately implement a program to allow Iraq War resisters (and resisters of any war not sanctioned by the United Nations) and their families to stay in Canada. The motion also calls for an immediate halt to deportation proceedings in these cases.
