Give Peace a Dance: a Reportback (and photos)

12 Hour Dance Party "Give Peace a Dance"

"We danced our asses off."

It's been about a week since the insanity that was the 12 hour party "Give Peace a Dance." Last Saturday all sorts of people came out for the hugely successful event. The evening started slowly, with myself and the primary organizing sitting around, fretting about turn out. But as some more supports began to show, and the clock ticked ever closer to party-o'clock on the college campus, things came alive.

All sorts of music was played, including such diverse artists as Stevie Wonder, The Three Amigos (6Q), and more. At 1 am DJ Honey and DJ More showed up and dropped some beats on us. Awesome. We were also fortunate that an freelance photog, Alfred Romgi, came out and snapped photos and danced with us for most of the evening after seeing the event on Seattle Indymedia. There was even a brief surprise visit from Seth Manzel, the new director(?) of the G.I. Coffee House (Coffee Strong).

There will be live music, spoken word, free tea and vegan food, art-making, paper cranes, and more. Please come and show your support of peace and activism and show the non-activist community that activists are not that intimidating and actually have a lot of fun while doing good things for the community.
