We are a radical labor union that has been organizing workers since 1905. Our democratic principles and revolutionary vision of a world without bosses makes our union distinct. Anyone is welcome to attend our meeting this Saturday where we will be discussion the possibilities of opening a Tacoma IWW hall in the beautiful city of Tacoma, WA. Workers at AT&T Poised to Strike - Job action would be biggest U.S. strike in recent years and first under Obama
Posted April 15th, 2009 by AnonymousAt midnight April 5, 2009 contracts for most of the component groups represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA) at the telecom giant AT&T have expired. After weeks of mobilizing, around 90,000 workers are poised to strike one of the largest and most profitable multinational corporations. A job action by CWA would be the largest and among the most significant labor action in the United States since the UPS strike in 1997. It would also be the first major strike under the Obama regime. The brewing confrontation could set the tone for class struggle in the U.S.
Celebrating Seattle's Striking History, 1919-2009: 90th Anniversary of the Seattle General Strike

Presentations and performances will revisit the event, followed by discussions of the strike’s legacy for today. All events are free and open to all. Refreshments will be provided.

I imagine we’ve witnessed many of the same injustices, heard similar stories of people being beaten down and being taken advantage of, and have studied the same strategies and tactics for how to build power for the powerless.
