Howard Zinn dies at 87
Posted January 27th, 2010 by AndrewHoward Zinn, historian and author of A People's History of the United States, has died of a heart attack. He was 87.
Zinn was born in New York and worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yards and served as a bombardier in World War II. He attended school on the GI bill, was active in the civil rights movement, and protested Vietnam.
On his last day at BU, Dr. Zinn ended class 30 minutes early so he could join a picket line and urged the 500 students attending his lecture to come along. A hundred did so.
Zinn is survived by his daughter, his son, and five grandchildren.

Patriarchy is a system of domination which privileges masculinity and enforces strict, exclusive, and unequal gender roles, and which interlocks with racism,homophobia, transphobia, ablism, xenophobia, and all other forms of oppression. Patriarchy affects people of all genders in our interpersonal relationships and everyday lives.
Tacoma Food Not Bombs Interest Meeting #2

We will also serve food at various social justice actions and work toward building better food security and a more just food culture for all people.
Guiding principles include
Treat others with respect
Make decisions democratically
Feed free healthy, wholesome vegetarian food to anyone who would like some
Take action for peace and social justice
Our first feed will be Thursday, February 26 so please get involved now! All are welcome.

Radical Indonesian street artists Taring Padi will showing some of their work FBK house 6272 S. Ellis Ave (in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood) on Wed. Sept. 17th.
Gallery will open @ 7:00 p.m.
Documentary And Discussion (art. activism and rock&roll) @ 8:30 p.m.
Local bands: Pipsqueak, Future Phones, and Doomhawk will play after the movie.
$5-$15 dollar recomended donation. No one turned away for lack of funds.
